IPOH, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM), through the Perak State Development Office, is committed to helping entrepreneurs from underprivileged backgrounds by providing business capital funding.

Its director Datuk Shamshuzaman Sulaiman said that the initiative was implemented through the Usahawan Susu ICU-Farm Fresh Programme (PUSH) under the Kesejahteraan Rakyat MADANI (IKRaM) framework launched by the government.

He said that the selected participants also received a donation in the form of a starter kit for the Farm Fresh Milk Home Dealer programme worth RM1,000.

“JPM is the coordinating agency for the eKasih system, and we have selected 16 participants from Perak to venture into the milk business.

“Most of them are small traders with previous business experience, and we will assist them so they can earn supplementary income and and lift themselves out of poverty,” he told a press conference after officiating PUSH here today.  Also present was Farm Fresh Berhad chief operating officer Azmi Zainal.

Shamshuzaman added that the program, held for the first time, also offered training and entrepreneurial guidance to the participants.

“PUSH, a strategic collaboration between ICU JPM, the Perak State Development Office, and Farm Fresh Berhad, has proven effective in generating household income through through the sale of dairy products.

“The JPM ICU will continue to collaborate with our strategic partners to monitor and assist those living below the poverty line, particularly the extremely poor in Perak and across the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Azmi stated that, so far, Farm Fresh Berhad has produced over 2,000 entrepreneurs through its Home Dealer programme, which was launched in 2016.

“To date, 300 entrepreneurs in Perak have been trained, and we are committed to helping eKasih participants increase their side income alongside their main business.

“This starter kit is a great initiative for them to start a business, with traders potentially earning a profit margin of RM250 if the products are sold,” he said.
