PUTRAJAYA, Nov 21 (Bernama) — One of the four victims who died in an accident near the IOI Putrajaya mall late last night was a hafiz (one who has memorised the Quran) and often served as an imam at the surau near his home.

Mohd Nuzi Tamli, 57, the father of Muhammad Danial Mohd Nuzi, expressed his sorrow at the loss, describing his son, the eighth of ten siblings, as a person who had memorised all 30 juzuk of the Quran and regularly served as an imam at a surau in Bestari Jaya, Selangor, where the family resides.

Mohd Nuzi, who was at work when he received the tragic news, said he was informed about the tragedy by his daughter, who is studying at Universiti Selangor, at around noon.

“When I was told that Danial had died due to the accident last night, my vision went dark, and I almost collapsed,” he said when met by reporters at the Forensic Department of Putrajaya Hospital today.

He shared that he had sent his son to study at a religious school in Indonesia for three years starting when Danial was 16 years old.

"He was a good son, and earlier, the police told me that a tafsir Quran book was found in Danial's bag," he added.

Mohd Nuzi said that his son, who had been working at a factory in Kota Puteri, Rawang, had been renting a place in Ijok for the past two months and did not know that he  had gone out with friends the night of the accident.

The funeral will take place at the Bestari Jaya Islamic Cemetery, and the family is waiting for the post-mortem process to be completed.

Earlier, Sepang District Police Chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman reported that the incident occurred when the car, carrying the victim and three others, was traveling from Kajang toward Putrajaya and that the vehicle skidded and hit the road divider between the entrance to the shopping mall and the road heading to Putrajaya.

As a result of the accident, the driver and three passengers died at the scene, and all the bodies were brought to Putrajaya Hospital for a post-mortem.
