KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The 2024 National Convention on Public Service Reform is said to have demonstrated the commitment of the country's top leadership and the Public Service Department (PSD) to reform and revitalise public service.

The director of the Monitoring and Secretariat Section of the Performance Acceleration Unit (PACU), Nurdiana Puaadi, said the reform must consider current technological advances that present new challenges.

"Eight forums and one plenary session were held, focusing on contemporary issues and needs. Its concurrent organisation with the Two Years of MADANI Government (2TM) programme also gave the people the opportunity to understand the government's policies and initiatives," she told Bernama after the closing ceremony officiated by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Meanwhile, PSD Corporate Communications head Diyana Hasshim said the convention, which was packed with insightful contributions from the government, private sector, and academia, demonstrates the commitment of the country's top leaders to implementing public service reform.

She said the public service reform agenda is a huge commitment, and it is clear that the government is serious about bringing change to ensure an efficient and swift delivery of services to the people.

"As a public servant…I am pleased with this effort because these changes and improvements benefit us all. Therefore, we must embrace the changes being made," she said.

Meanwhile, Immigration Department assistant information officer Helman Ramolo, 46, said the convention provided guidelines to civil servants, encouraging them to continue delivering the best services in line with current needs.

The 2TM programme themed 'MADANI di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni' and the convention sought to enhance the public's understanding of the MADANI Government's efforts in implementing public service reform for the well-being of the people.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the Kuala Lumpur Declaration Tekad Bersama Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia at the convention, symbolising a solid commitment to implementing comprehensive reforms from the highest levels to the state administration.
