FLOOD DAMAGES TO KELANTAN PDRM PROPERTY ESTIMATED AT RM1.55 MILLION - SHAMSUL

PASIR MAS, Dec 4 (Bernama) – Flood damages to the Royal Malaysian Police's (PDRM) property in Kelantan is estimated at RM1.55 million, said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

He said that an initial report on the matter has been submitted to Bukit Aman by Kelantan police chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat.

“The precise figure will be determined once the flooding has completely subsided,” he said after attending a briefing on the floods in Kelantan at the Repek Police Post here today.

The affected police stations are Rantau Panjang, Jeram Perdah, Bakong, Kuala Jambu, Ketereh, Lubok Setol, Simpangan, Tok Uban, Meranti, and Bukit Yong, while the affected police posts are Pohon Tanjung, Salor, Alor Pasir, and Gelang Mas.

He emphasised that despite PDRM being affected by the floods, the force's commitment to serving the public, including assisting flood victims, would remain unwavering.

Meanwhile, Shamsul Anuar said the three Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security complexes in Rantau Panjang are now operating as usual after being slightly affected by the floods a few days ago.

Regarding preparations for the next wave of floods in Kelantan, he said the cooperation between agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs and partner agencies is at the optimum level.

“I assure you that our security forces, the police, and other agencies are capable of facing any situation,” he said.

He advised the public not to provide false information to the authorities, as it could disrupt efforts to rescue flood victims and misallocate resources.

“To date, the Kelantan police have received 114 hoax calls. In a situation where the police, army, and other agencies are doing their best, we ask the public not to make such calls.

“It will hamper rescue operations, including the use of assets such as boats and helicopters when we respond and find that the information is false,” he said.
