PORT DICKSON, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The selection of Port Dickson as one of the ASEAN Summit meeting locations is expected to significantly boost the district’s tourism by promoting its beauty to Southeast Asian countries.
Port Dickson Municipal Council (MPPD) president Hasnor Abd Hamid said the council is fully committed to ensuring smooth preparations for the meeting to create a successful event and leave a lasting positive impression on the delegates.
He said the meeting is scheduled to take place on Oct 3 at a hotel near the beach.
“We will collaborate with the hotel and relevant departments to ensure the cleanliness, landscaping, roads, and overall beauty of Port Dickson are well-maintained.
“Cleanliness is MPPD’s top priority. We will ensure all rubbish in the town and beaches is collected. Cleaning will start early in the morning to ensure that everything is in good condition,” he told Bernama today.
Malaysia officially assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship on Jan 1, 2025, under the theme of Inclusivity and Sustainability, reflecting the nation’s aspiration to shape a united and prosperous ASEAN.
This is the fifth time Malaysia has assumed the role of ASEAN Chair, having previously done so in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.
