FCOEE PLAYS VITAL ROLE IN PERLIS' EDUCATION SECTOR

KANGAR, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE) plays a vital role in Perlis’ education sector, contributing to its improved Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) state average grade (GPN) of 4.74 in 2023, compared to 4.82 in 2022.

In its statement yesterday, FCoEE highlighted its collaboration with numerous strategic partners, agencies, and organisations to develop academic programmes for students and teachers in the state, including 36 programmes that significantly contributed to the impressive achievement.

"Sixty programmes were carried out from 2022 to 2024, including ongoing initiatives such as the Professional Learning Community for teachers, the AI & Robotic Educational Club (AiRED), the Madani Human Development Catalyst and the SPM Intellectual Transformation programmes, and the Perlis-focused Data Research Grant.

“Through technology and digitalisation initiatives like the AiRED Club, secondary school students in Perlis were introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics via immersive learning experiences, such as programming, voice recognition, image detection, and robot movement," the statement read.

The statement was issued in conjunction with the 2024 FCoEE Appreciation Ceremony in Kuala Perlis yesterday, which was officiated by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Also present was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.

The statement noted that FCoEE's programmes in 2024 involved 394 trained teachers, 808 students in Form 4 and 5, 100 primary school students, and 336 university students, with 43 of the students being from underprivileged backgrounds.

"FCoEE will continue to collaborate with the Perlis state government, educational institutions, universities, agencies, and private companies, all of whom are committed to supporting the success of its programmes," the statement added.

Meanwhile, FCoEE chairman, Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr. Kamarudin Husin, said the centre’s establishment was inspired by its patron, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who envisioned transforming and advancing the education sector for the people of the state.

He added that FCoEE enhances the education system by providing added value, supporting a sustainable education community, integrating smart and traditional education, and emphasising practical education courses to develop a competitive and highly employable workforce in Perlis.

"Developing quality data through research grants and the documentation of best practices is essential for strategic planning in Perlis and for FCoEE itself. In 2023, 15 research grants led to 31 journal publications, and 36 grants are scheduled for presentation in mid-2024," he said.
