FLOOD SITUATION IMPROVES IN JOHOR, UNCHANGED IN THREE OTHER STATES

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Johor improved today, with number of evacuees in relief centres dropping, while things remained unchanged in Perak, Pahang and Sarawak.

In JOHOR, there were 1,092 evacuees from 329 families at 12 centres in four districts as of 8 pm compared to 1,860 people this evening.

Kluang had the highest number of evacuees at 410 people, followed by Pontian (354), Kota Tinggi (275) and Johor Bahru (53), while Jalan Mawai Lama (Rumah Burung) in Kota Tinggi was still inaccessible to all vehicles after being flooded.

In PERAK, the state disaster management committee secretariat said that the number of evacuees remained unchanged at 31 people from nine families from Kampung Padang Serai, Kampung Kasi and Kampung Pengkalan Damar who are being housed at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai, Beruas since Jan 9.

In PAHANG, 186 people from 43 families remained in Balai Raya Kampung Jawa, Rompin, while in SARAWAK, 20 people from 13 families were at Dewan Kompleks Sukan Kanowit tonight.
