KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The number of flood evacuees at temporary relief centres (PPS) in Sabah continues to increase, while Sarawak recorded a decline as of 8 pm today.
In SABAH, the numbers rose to 700 from 190 families, compared to 663 (178 families) earlier in the day.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, a total of 275 people (83 families) are taking shelter at the Beaufort PPS, 276 people (70 families) at two PPS in Kinabatangan district, 137 people (33 families) at two PPS in Keningau district and 13 people (four families) in Tambunan.
In SARAWAK, the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that the number of people displaced by floods dropped to 4,065 compared to 4,389 earlier, with 21 PPS still operating.
“The number of evacuees in Bintulu division decreased to 1,873 people at five PPS from 1,907 previously, while in Sibu, it also reduced to 1,114 people at six PPS compared to 1,160 in the daytime.
“As for Miri, the number of victims at seven PPS dropped to 452 from 694, in Mukah division declined to 613 from 615 across four PPS, while Sarikei division remained unchanged at 13 victims in one PPS,” it said in a statement.
