SEREMBAN, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government has provided 26,548 affordable housing units (RMM) in key high-demand areas, including this district, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Since June 2018, the state has approved 8,788 Type A units priced at RM80,000, along with 9,231 Type B and 8,529 Type C units.
"To better meet market needs, the state government revised the Negeri Sembilan Housing Policy, effective Feb 1, ensuring both homebuyers and developers benefit from Type A RMM projects," he said at the Type A RMM Taman Arowana balloting event today.
Under the revised policy, 50 per cent of RMM projects must consist of affordable homes, with the allocation for Type A units increasing from RM80,000 to RM110,000. The income eligibility for buyers has also been raised from RM3,500 to RM4,500.
Additionally, 15 per cent of the RMM allocation is for Type B homes priced at up to RM250,000, while the remaining 15 per cent is for Type C(i) units, capped at RM400,000, and Type C(ii) units, priced at up to RM450,000.
Aminuddin added that the Type A RMM project in Taman Arowana is structurally complete, with infrastructure works at 90 per cent, and is expected to be ready for occupancy by May.
To further assist first-time homebuyers, the state government introduced the Rumah Harapan Rakyat programme in 2021, which provides interest-free loans for RM75,000 homes, enabling B40 households to build single-storey houses on their own land.
