KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through the Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MiSI), continues to strengthen local workforce participation in the golf industry by providing skills training and job guarantees for the Indian community.

In a statement today, AMS Caddy Academy said the initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA), aims to encourage Indian youth to venture into Malaysia’s golf industry while enhancing the competitiveness of local workers.

"The MiSI programme not only provides skills training but also guarantees employment upon completion of training.

"Participants receive a comprehensive benefits package, including insurance coverage, a structured career development plan, and salaries higher than the national minimum wage," the statement said.

AMS Caddy Academy also announced that a graduation ceremony for the second batch of participants under the Skills Training with Job Guarantee Scheme was recently held at Palm Resort Golf & Country Club, Senai, Johor. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Communications and Kulai MP, Teo Nie Ching.

In the same statement, Teo said the programme provides local youth with opportunities to enter the expanding golf sector.

"I have been informed that there is a demand for 4,000 caddies nationwide, but only 2,000 are currently available in the market.

"A significant number of these positions are filled by foreign workers when they should be taken up by locals. I hope more Malaysians will seize this opportunity to build a career as professional caddies," she said.
