MAKKAH, March 4 (Bernama-SPA) -- The gates of the Grand Mosque play a vital role in managing the entry and exit of worshippers and Umrah performers during Ramadan, ensuring safe and efficient access for all visitors.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque oversees the management and organisation of these entrances to facilitate smooth movement within the Grand Mosque.

The authority has designated specific gates for Umrah performers, including King Abdulaziz Gate 1, King Fahd Gate 79, Umrah Gate, and Al-Salam Gate 19. Additionally, bridges serving Umrah performers on the first floor include Al-Shubaika Bridge No. 64 and Ajyad Bridge No. 7.

For worshippers, several gates and bridges have been allocated, including Ajyad Bridge, Al-Marwah Bridge, Al-Safa Bridge, and various stairways such as Al-Arqam Stairway, Stairway 74, Stairway 84, and Stairway 91. The designated gates for entry are 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 89, 90, 114, 121, and 123.

The authority has also designated specific entrances for women’s prayer areas through Gates 70, 85, 86, 87, and 89, and for individuals with disabilities through Gates 68, 69, 89, 93, 94, 114, and 123, along with the bridges of Al-Marwah, Ajyad, Al-Safa, and Al-Shubaika.

The designated gates for funerals are Gate 7 for the funeral prayer area and Gate 5 for the exit, while Gates 13 and 14 are reserved for emergencies only.

These organisational measures aim to enhance efficiency in managing crowd flow, ensuring greater comfort for Umrah performers and worshippers during the blessed month of Ramadan.
