POCHEON (South Korea), March 7 (Bernama-Yonhap) – South Korea’s local and military officials launched a joint task force Friday to inspect property damage and safety conditions in the aftermath of this week’s accidental bombing of a northern village.

Around 100 people from the Pocheon municipal government and the military began inspecting damage to property in the city, about 40 kilometres north of Seoul, a day after two Air Force KF-16 fighter jets mistakenly dropped eight bombs on a village during live-fire drills.

A total of 58 households have reported damage to property so far.

The safety inspection will be led by officials from the Gyeonggi provincial government and the Defence Ministry, who will look at electrical installations, gas equipment, and buildings to assess whether they are safe for habitation.

The inspections are expected to be completed by the end of the day at the earliest.
