SEREMBAN, March 12 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with its fourth anniversary, UCSI Hospital has appointed Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz as its patron.
In his speech, Tunku Zain expressed his gratitude for the appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the continued excellence of the medical centre.
“I hope we can continue to collaborate in improving the quality of healthcare services and ensuring that every patient who comes to this hospital feels valued and cared for with compassion,” he said in a statement issued by UCSI Hospital here today.
Tunku Zain, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of UCSI University, commended the progress of UCSI Hospital, highlighting the Rakyat Wing programme, which offers affordable medical treatment to those in the B40 and M40 groups, as well as uninsured foreign workers.
“Through Yayasan Munarah, where I serve as president and patron, we are ready to collaborate with UCSI Hospital on the Rakyat Wing programme to assist those in need.
“I am pleased to announce that UCSI Hospital and Yayasan Munarah will sponsor two patients for free coronary artery bypass grafting,” he said, adding that the foundation will identify eligible patients for the treatment.
Tunku Zain also called on government leaders and policymakers to recognise the opportunities presented by the Rakyat Wing programme and take proactive steps to alleviate the burden on public hospitals.
“This is not about competition, but about collaboration for the benefit of the people. It is time to move beyond outdated ways of thinking and take bold action to better connect available resources and support our communities,” he said.
Also present at the event were UCSI Group Founder and Executive Chairman Datuk Peter Ng, UCSI Group Chief Executive Officer Prof Emerita Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir, and UCSI Healthcare Group Chairman Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The event also featured the launch of the Medical Education and Training Centre, the newest addition to UCSI Hospital.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said that the Medical Education and Training Centre would offer the Breast and Endocrine Fellowship programme, as well as ultrasound courses for medical students and general practitioners.
“The centre will serve as the cornerstone of UCSI Hospital’s commitment to medical education, fostering excellence in healthcare training and improving patient care through continuous learning,” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham added that the centre would oversee a comprehensive range of educational initiatives, including local and international collaborations, fellowship programmes, placements for medical and nursing students, and clinical placements and observations across various medical and surgical specialities.
Established in 2021, UCSI Hospital is part of the UCSI Health Metropolis, a mega project aimed at transforming Springhill into a medical tourism hub.
