KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Consulate General in Davao City, Philippines, distributed 200 packs of bubur lambuk and 200 packs of iftar meals to the congregation at the Jamjoon Mosque, Ecoland, on Wednesday as part of a welfare initiative during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Consulate General stated that the preparation of the food involved the full participation of all officers and staff of the Consulate General, along with all members of PERWAKILAN (the Women's Association of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
"This initiative aims not only to enhance the spirit of Ramadan but also to strengthen the good relations between the Malaysian Consulate General and the local community," according to the statement.
Speaking at the event, Malaysian Consul General in Davao City, Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh, said that the programme is part of the Consulate's ongoing efforts to establish close ties with the Islamic community in Davao City.
"Ramadan teaches us the values of simplicity, sincerity, and to care for one another. This gotong-royong programme not only reflects Malaysia's rich culture of togetherness but also serves as a form of appreciation to the community in Davao City, which has always warmly welcomed Malaysia's presence here," he said.
According to the statement, the programme received a positive response from the congregation at Jamjoon Mosque, particularly from Davao's Mufti, Aleem Muhammad Yusof Pasigan, who appreciated the contributions and the spirit of goodwill based on the Malaysian MADANI concept demonstrated by the Malaysian Consulate General.
It hopes that such programmes would continue in the future to further strengthen the friendship between Malaysia and the local community in Mindanao, according to the statement.
