MADANI COOPERATIVE & ENTREPRENEUR SALES PROGRAMME OFFERS UP TO 50 PCT DISCOUNT

SUNGAI BULOH, March 16 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Cooperative and Entrepreneur Sales (JMKU) programme, organised by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry through the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (SKM) in conjunction with Aidilfitri, is offering discounts of up to 50 per cent on essential and festive goods.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the two-day programme, which began yesterday at Dewan MPKS Saujana Utama, offers daily essentials such as rice, cooking oil, chicken, beef, frozen food and dry goods.

He said the programme aims to provide the public, especially Sungai Buloh residents, with an opportunity to purchase necessities at lower prices, thereby easing the cost of living burden.

“Typically, the MADANI sales programme is subsidised 20 per cent by SKM, but for Sungai Buloh residents, I have added an extra 30 per cent incentive, bringing the total discount to 50 per cent during ‘Happy Hour’,” he said after officiating the event here today.

Ramanan added that the sales programme would continue at the Paya Jaras and Kota Damansara state constituencies next week to ensure more Sungai Buloh residents benefit from the discounts.

“This sales programme is also held nationwide. However, in other locations, shoppers will receive the standard 20 per cent discount provided by SKM,” he said.

Meanwhile, Saujana Utama MADANI Community chairman Zulmaidi Mat said the initiative has significantly benefited residents, particularly those in the B40 and M40 groups.

A shopper known as Hamdiah, 56, who attended the programme for the first time, praised the affordable prices and the fresh quality of goods, including meat and vegetables.

A kerepek entrepreneur, Nur Nabiha Zamri, 24, said she joined the programme after receiving an invitation from SKM.

“I sell various types of kerepek, such as banana and sweet potato chips. This programme helps me generate income while saving costs, as no rental fees are charged,” she said.

She added that her products were offered at lower prices, with an initial discount reducing her chips from RM14 to RM10, and further down to RM7 during ‘Happy Hour’, attracting more visitors to her stall.

In a separate development, Ramanan, who is also PKR deputy information chief 1, in his speech, said PAS appears desperate when one of its assemblymen urged supporters residing in Selangor but voting in Kelantan and Terengganu to become local voters.

This followed remarks from Selangor PAS Commissioner and Paya Jaras assemblyman Ab Halim Tamuri during a dialogue session, where he called on Selangor residents from PAS-led states to register as voters in Selangor for the next general election.

Ramanan described the statement as irrational and a sign that PAS is losing support in Selangor.
