KUANTAN, March 19 (Bernama) -- Koperasi Serbausaha Makmur Berhad (KOSMA) has announced a higher plantation unit dividend of RM5,000 this year, an increase from RM4,500 in the previous year.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said this is the highest dividend payout in 57 years, driven by rising palm oil prices and efficient management.
“With a strong financial performance, KOSMA’s plantation revenue stood at RM224.88 million, with a net profit of RM134.17 million.
“Taking this into account, along with KOSMA’s commitment to members’ welfare, I’m pleased to announce that the plantation unit dividend for this year has been raised to RM5,000 per unit, compared to RM4,500 last year,” he told a press conference here today.
Wan Rosdy said eligible members would receive the interim dividend for one plantation unit starting today to help them prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
The remaining dividend would be disbursed during the cooperative’s 40th Annual General Meeting on June 21.
“KOSMA currently has 12,638 plantation units, with a total dividend payout of RM63.19 million.
“This decision was made after considering various economic factors and the well-being of 1,456 KOSMA members,” he added.
Wan Rosdy said the state government remains committed to supporting and strengthening the cooperative sector for the benefit of the people.
