KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended a contribution to veteran journalist Md Nasir Ahmad, better known as Nas Ahmad, who is plagued with health issues.

His political secretary, Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, presented the assistance during a visit to the sexagenarian journalist’s residence in Kota Damansara, Selangor.

Through a post on his Facebook today, Ahmad Farhan said several years ago, the former entertainment journalist suffered a heart attack, followed by vision problems due to cataracts that have rendered him unable to work.

"The income that has once sustained him has now been cut off, leaving him completely dependent on his family and available assistance.

"In this meeting, he talked about the challenges he faces, including the rising cost of medical treatment, the responsibility of supporting his family, and the limitations caused by his health condition," he said.

Ahmad Farhan said during his time as a journalist, Md Nasir was also an advocate for the welfare of artists and individuals in the creative industry.

"However, he is now facing health challenges that have changed everything. May this contribution help ease his burden, and may Allah SWT grant him good health and peace for him and his family," he added.
