KOTA BHARU, March 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 23 firecracker-related cases were recorded as of yesterday by the Kelantan Health Department (JKNK) involving victims, aged 15 and below, said its director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.
He said from this number, 13 victims were hospitalised while the others received outpatient treatment.
"The Jeli Hospital recorded five cases, followed by Tanah Merah Hospital, Pasir Mas Hospital and Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu, with three cases each.
"Two cases related to firecrackers were reported at the Bachok Hospital, Tengku Anis Hospital in Pasir Puteh, Machang Hospital and Gua Musang Hospital, whereas there was one case in Tumpat Hospital,” he said when contacted by reporters today.
Elaborating further, Dr Zaini said the latest case received by his team involved a 12-year-old boy whose left hand was severely injured apart from sustaining facial wounds, due to a firecracker explosion in Tumpat yesterday.
"The incident occurred around 3.30 pm when the victim was reportedly playing with modified firecrackers with two friends," he added.
