ARTSCIENCE PRIZE 2025: EMBRACING AI AND SUSTAINABILITY IN ART

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 Bernama) -- The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) is inviting local talents to join the ArtScience Prize 2025 competition to produce artworks that elevate human life through art and science.

Minister Chang Lih Kang said the competition, organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), carried the theme ‘Transforming the Future of Arts: AI Meets Sustainability’ and encouraged artists and scientists to explore artificial intelligence (AI) technology and revolutionise environmental sustainability.

“AI technology has the potential to redefine the concept of art while addressing several pressing global challenges, including environmental sustainability.

“This competition encourages Malaysian talents to explore the boundaries of innovation and create high-impact works that inspire change towards a more sustainable and inclusive future,” he said in a statement today.

ASM president Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen Tengku Ibrahim said in the same statement that the competition served as a platform to foster a culture of creativity and innovation in Malaysia, integrating science and art for economic and social development.

“The integration between science and art will strengthen the essence of innovation and its meaning in the development of society and daily life,” he said.

The competition is open to all Malaysians, both in the country and overseas, from March 20 to May 20, on the condition that they are 18 years old and above and can only submit one entry.

All forms of artwork are welcomed, including paintings, sculptures, videos, new media, and performances. For more details, visit the official ArtScience website at https://www.akademisains.gov.my/artscience/.

The grand winner of the competition will receive a trophy and RM20,000 in cash, while the New Star Award winner will take home a trophy and RM10,000 in cash, the People’s Choice Award offers a trophy and RM5,000 in cash, and two finalists will receive RM2,500 each.

In addition, an ASM ArtScience Travel Fellowship support grant of RM5,000 will be awarded to the grand winner and the recipient of the New Star Award.
