PM HOPES AID, INCENTIVES ANNOUNCED BY MADANI GOVT MAKE AIDILFITRI MORE MEANINGFUL

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes that all the assistance, grants and initiatives announced by the MADANI Government throughout Ramadan can help the public make more meaningful Aidilfitri preparations.

The Prime Minister's senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said the efforts are in line with MADANI principle in ensuring the wellbeing of the people.

He said the government has announced the allocation for Phase Two of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) totaling RM1.7 billion, involving almost nine million recipients with payments being disbursed starting last Monday.

The Special Aidilfitri Financial Assistance (BKKA) of RM500 for civil servants Grade 15 and below was also disbursed today, with pensioners each getting RM250.

“The MADANI Government has also extended the BKKA to more than 70,000 teachers of the Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) classes, takmir teachers, imams, bilal, siak, noja and marbut, who received RM250 in appreciation for their dedicated service,” he said at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) daily briefing, which was streamed live on Anwar Ibrahim and PMO Malaysia’s Facebook pages today.

To ease the transportation costs for the people to return to their hometowns for Aidilfitri, the government also announced a 50 percent toll discount for highway users starting at midnight tonight until 11.59 pm Saturday (March 29).

Yesterday, the Communications Ministry also announced the provision of the RAHMAH Rebate Incentive in the form of a free additional 5GB of internet data for both prepaid and postpaid mobile plans to all Malaysian users of telecommunication services on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
