KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- The Kota Raja Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre will bear the utility bills of Putra Heights Mosque in Subang Jaya, which is serving as a temporary evacuation centre (PPS) to house victims of the gas pipeline fire on Tuesday.

Kota Raja Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, who is also the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, said the bill settlement for April would be channelled to help ease the burden of expenses following the incident.

"God willing, other assistance will be announced by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and I hopes that all victims will be patient," he said in a post on his Facebook page today.

He also asked the public to pray for the wellbeing of all victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights and called on everyone to be vigilant and prioritise safety.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan praised the strong spirit of unity and cooperation shown by Malaysians in the wake of the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

"One of the admirable qualities of Malaysians is their willingness to come forward and lend a hand in times of crisis," he told the media during a briefing held in conjunction with the 12th ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meeting (AFMGM) 2025 at the Ministry of Finance today.

Amir Hamzah said the government and Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) have taken swift action to address immediate safety concerns following the incident, which occurred on April 1.

"Efforts are now shifting towards assisting those affected by the fire. We've seen encouraging support from various quarters, from both the state and federal governments, as well as Petronas," he said.

He added that an internal investigation is currently underway to determine the root cause of the incident.

"We are also looking at forward planning, but we should let the investigation team complete their work and present their recommendations first," he said.

In the meantime, he said that the government has extended assistance in the form of temporary accommodation and basic necessities to the affected families.

"For long-term solutions, there should be further coordination," he added.
