FLOOD VICTIMS IN JOHOR DROP TO 210 THIS MORNING

JOHOR BAHRU, April 11 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims in Johor has decreased further, with 210 evacuees from 65 families recorded this morning compared to 290 people from 96 families yesterday evening.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said all evacuees are still housed at the temporary relief centre at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Gading.

“The victims comprise residents of Kampung Baharu Sri Gading, Kampung Parit Bengkok, Kampung Parit Kaspan, Kampung Parit Samion, Kampung Parit Haji Salleh Ros, Kampung Parit Sri Muar, Kampung Sri Pandan and Kampung Parit Samijan,” he said in a statement today.

Azmi added that a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning was issued for Tangkak, Muar and Batu Pahat districts this morning.

“Rain has been reported in Johor Bahru, Pontian and Segamat, while Kulai, Mersing and Kluang are cloudy, and Kota Tinggi is experiencing fair weather.

“Two rivers are at alert levels, namely Sungai Senggarang in Batu Pahat with a reading of 3.05 metres and Sungai Batu Pahat at 2.30 metres, while other rivers in the state remain at normal levels,” he said.
