SEREMBAN, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Seremban City Council (MBS) has reminded premises owners across the city to remove and replace any worn or damaged Malaysian flag (Jalur Gemilang) and the Negeri Sembilan state flag displayed on their properties.
Mayor Datuk Masri Razali said the directive is in line with Article 5 of the Jalur Gemilang guidelines issued by the Prime Minister’s Department, which stresses the importance of respectfully displaying the national flag.
“Flying a flag that is faded, torn or in poor condition is considered inappropriate and, in some contexts, an offence under the issued guidelines,” he said in a statement today.
MBS has called on all building and business owners under its jurisdiction to ensure that flags displayed on their premises are in good condition and to replace any that appear tattered or aged.
“We urge Seremban residents to show respect and care for both the national and state flags, as they symbolise the patriotic spirit of our people and the pride of this state,” Masri added.
Members of the public who wish to file a complaint or offer feedback can do so via the MBS public complaints portal at mbseremban.spab.gov.my, download the Respon Rakyat mobile app, or contact the city council directly at 06-765 4444.
