KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- Bank Pertanian Malaysia Bhd (Agrobank) has awarded RM416,500 in MADANI Scholarships to 10 outstanding students who are currently pursuing their studies at public institutions of higher learning (IPTA).

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the Agrobank MADANI Scholarship initiative is a strategic investment in shaping the future of the next generation who would inherit the country’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at Agrobank’s Aidilfitri Open House and the launch of Agrobank’s branding transformation, Mohamad Sabu also congratulated Agrobank on achieving its highest financing disbursement of RM10.44 billion in 2024, demonstrating the institution’s commitment and capability in supporting the growth of the country’s food supply chain.

“I would like to congratulate the management and all Agrobank employees for their continued effort in providing comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable financial access for the growth of farmers, fishermen, and livestock breeders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Agrobank president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said Agrobank’s investment in education demonstrated its commitment to supporting underserved communities and ensuring that opportunities for progress were no longer limited by geography or financial constraints.

“This contributes to a more inclusive and equitable society, which in turn creates long-term impact, particularly in terms of economic development,” he said.

He said many recipients of Agrobank scholarships have since joined the bank as staff, undergoing management training that covered all aspects of banking, and deployed to serve in Agrobank branches in rural areas.

“This initiative not only reflects Agrobank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility but also serves as a strategic investment in developing young talents with the potential to join the Agrobank Young Talent Programme (YTP) and unlock their leadership potential,” he added.
