DEPUTY DEFENCE MINISTER VISITS SARAWAK-KALIMANTAN BORDER OPERATION AREA

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 (Bernama) -- Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari made a working visit to the Sarawak-Kalimantan border operation area from yesterday until today.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the visit covered Pos Pa’Dalih, the Malaysia-Indonesia Joint Post at the Joint Planning Committee (JPG) Camp in Ba'kelalan, and Pos Bario.

“He was briefed on operational matters, including the status of headquarters installations and ongoing maintenance work in the operational area during the visit.

“Through this visit, Adly gained exposure and a clearer picture of operations along the Malaysia–Indonesia border under Operasi Jagakawan, while also observing the daily lives and engaging with members of the Malaysian Army (TDM) stationed at the frontier,” it said in a statement.

The deputy minister also attended an engagement session with local security agencies and nearby village residents in the Bario District, as well as visited two Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans’ families under the Madani Veteran Care Programme (PVM) in the Baram District.

While meeting with the MAF veterans' families, Adly also presented the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) to a former soldier’s widow and handed over fish feed aid to a former soldier turned freshwater fish breeder.

“This visit is part of the First Pillar of the National Defence Strategy - Integrated Deterrence - as outlined in the Defence White Paper (DWP) 2020-2030,” the ministry said.

The strategy aims to safeguard national interests, particularly by defending sovereignty and territorial integrity, and deterring any form of intrusion or conflict.
