KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- National women’s squash player S. Sivasangari's quest for a second title this year ended today as she succumbed to world number one Nouran Gohar of Egypt in the Grasshopper Cup 2025 final in Zurich, Switzerland.
Sivasangari, the third seed and world number 11, pushed the dominant top seed to her limits in an intense 42-minute battle at Zurich Hauptbahnhof's glass court before coming up short 7-11, 12-14, 9-11.
With this win, Nouran maintained her perfect 4-0 record against the 26-year-old, dating back to their first meeting during the third round of the El Gouna International Squash Open in 2021.
The Grasshopper Cup 2025, which is the Professional Squash Association’s (PSA) gold-level tournament, offered a total prize pool of US$123,000 (about RM538,000) for both men’s and women’s category, respectively.
Last February, Sivasangari clinched the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup title by defeating American player, Amanda Sobhy, 11-7, 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4.
