KUCHING, April 28 (Bernama) -- Sarawak has elevated its recognition platform for business events with the launch of the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards (BILA), expanding globally to honour outstanding contributions.
State Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the enhanced awards reflect Sarawak’s commitment to sustainability and long-term impact in the global business events sector.
"This positions the industry as a driver of economic growth, knowledge-sharing, environmental responsibility and social progress," he said at the BILA 2025 press conference here today.
Abdul Karim said Sarawak is rapidly emerging as a global hub for experts to exchange ideas towards shaping industries and their policies.
"Business events today are catalysts for innovation and advancement, not merely networking platforms," he said.
Adding that Sarawak must continue to adapt, innovate and embrace change to stay competitive amid digitalisation and evolving audience expectations.
Organised by Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), BILA offers 18 awards across five categories to recognise impactful initiatives benefiting Sarawak.
Submissions for BILA 2025, open globally until June 15, 2025 for achievements between 2023 and June 2025, must be made via https://legacy360.businesseventssarawak.com.More details at https://legacy360.businesseventssarawak.com/bila-2025/#overview.
