MEDIA PERSONNEL INVITED TO JOIN HAWANA–DBP 2025 PANTUN FESTIVAL

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) – Media personnel nationwide are invited to participate in the HAWANA–DBP 2025 Pantun Festival, a special event held in conjunction with the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2025 celebration.

Organised for the first time by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), in collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), the programme aims to celebrate and elevate pantun as a treasured cultural heritage that deserves to be preserved and honoured.

Bernama Editor-in-Chief and HAWANA 2025 Project Director, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, said the competition aims to promote cultural appreciation among media practitioners while strengthening camaraderie among them.

“Pantun is a Malay intellectual legacy that reflects the beauty of the language, noble values, and mental agility. Through this festival, we hope to reignite a love for literary arts among media professionals,” he said in a statement today.

The HAWANA–DBP 2025 Pantun Festival is open to all media personnel, with the deadline for registration set for May 15. The grand final is scheduled to take place on May 31.

The festival is expected to attract participation from various media agencies across the country in a relaxed yet culturally rich environment.

Now in its fifth edition since its launch in 2018, HAWANA is an annual celebration that brings together media practitioners to recognise and appreciate their contributions to national development.

HAWANA 2025 will be celebrated in June, with Kuala Lumpur as the host city.
