CAMBODIA 

 

1. CHINA-CAMBODIA JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE -- FRESH NEWS

The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the People's Liberation Army of China will conduct a joint military exercise “Golden Dragon 2025” from May 14 to 28. This is the seventh drill between the Chinese and Cambodian forces since their first exercise in 2016. 

 

2. CAMBODIA-MALAYSIA TRADE CHAMBERS INK DEAL -- THE PHNOM PENH POST

The Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia signed an agreement yesterday to bolster bilateral trade. Last year, both countries' bilateral trade volume stood at RM3.7 billion (US$865 million).

1.INFRASTRUCTURE TO PROMOTE HORTICULTURE, AGROFORESTRY -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute and the IndusTek Co Ltd will build a horticulture and agroforestry market and an exhibition centre. The 4.5-hectare infrastructure is for horticulture varieties, animal breeds, tree seeds and saplings, and agro-forestry products.

 

2.RELOCATING TELECOMMUNICATIONS, POWER LINES -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The government will relocate communications, telecommunications and low-voltage power lines from overhead electricity poles to underground networks. This is to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical and telecommunication infrastructure and also to improve the urban landscape. 

 

MYANMAR 

 

1.SOARING DEMAND FOR PULSES THIS SEASON  -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Officials say the demand for pulses to donate to earthquake-hit regions has raised the sales of the commodity. There is a high demand for green gram, kidney beans and chickpeas. Chinese and Indian buyers are also fuelling demand. 

 

2.SHRIMP EXPORTS REACH RM127 MILLION -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The Department of Fisheries said that shrimp exports amounted to nearly RM127 million (US$30 million) in the financial year 2024-2025. Myanmar exports fishery products to 40 countries, with Japan, Bangladesh, China and Thailand being its biggest buyers.
