TAWAU, May 9 (Bernama) -- The Sabah MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025 began today at the Tawau Municipal Council square, featuring a variety of engaging activities for visitors of all ages.
The programme commenced with a walkabout led by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, whose ministry is leading the PMR 2025, with the Sabah Hawkers and Small Traders Coalition, this morning.
Highlights on the first day include Pocket Talk sessions covering topics such as the Public Service Department Sponsorship Programme and the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 1.0 (2021-2025).
Other topics are Secrets to Entrepreneurial Success, Synergy in Security, Malaysia’s Victory in the Sulu Claim, Success Stories from One District One Industry Borneo, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and Go Digital with Confidence, Avoid Scammers.
There will also be a children’s traditional costume contest, lucky draws, a seaweed cooking demonstration and an interactive quiz titled Ada Apa Dengan ASEAN.
Visitors will be entertained by unity-themed performances by students of the MADANI Generation, busker shows, Malaysian-Borneo cultural dance performances, and traditional Kulintangan music.
In the evening, Ewon is scheduled to attend a Forum Perdana Hal Ehwal Islam programme titled Formula Saudagar Akhirat, which will be held at the main stage and open to the public.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the closing ceremony on Sunday.
The Sabah PMR 2025 is part of a nationwide government initiative spearheaded by the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry as the lead ministry, and the Sabah Government as host, to bring essential government services directly to the people.
Themed Ending Poverty Through Entrepreneurship, the programme reflects the government’s commitment to addressing hardcore poverty by empowering communities.
