KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Oct (Bernama) -- The Selangor State government today launched the Selangor Digital Future Action Plan (DxF) 2026-2030, a comprehensive roadmap designed to bolster the state’s position as Malaysia's premier digital economy hub through innovation, infrastructure expansion and inclusive economic growth.
Selangor State Executive Councillor for Islamic Affairs and Innovation Culture Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the initiative aligns with the Malaysia MADANI vision, specifically under the innovation pillar which champions compassion, inclusivity and sustainability in national advancement.
"Today, marks not more than just the launch of a plan but its marks the beginning of a new chapter in Selangor's digital journey that is bold, inclusive. Through this plan, we are creating opportunities for innovation, empowering communities, and setting the foundation for sustainable digital growth.
"This is not simply a policy document but it is a continuation of our aspirations to build and to make Selangor a smart state," he said in his speech at the launch of DxF 2026-2030 here today after the event was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Mohammad Fahmi said the five-year plan defines Selangor's strategic direction to become a digitally empowered and innovation-driven state that focuses on four key objectives, namely enabling new areas of economic growth through digital infrastructure expansion and reducing development costs by optimising existing assets.
He said other key objectives were accelerating digital adoption across government and industry, and identifying opportunities for 5G implementation to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
Mohammad Fahmi emphasised that the plan was not solely about constructing physical towers, fibre networks and cables, but about building digital bridges that connect people to opportunities and communities to innovation.
"Imagine a Selangor where real-time data helps government anticipate citizens' needs before even problems arise Micro, small and medium enterprises use digital tools to reach global markets, where young innovators can build solutions that not only serve Malaysia but the world And finally, a smarter, more efficient and more productive government services," he said.
He also highlights that the DxF encompasses 30 initiatives ranging from a unified citizen app centralised private cloud, sovereign digital infrastructure for sovereign AI development to cyber security solutions.
“There is also funding involved in building this, as the document outlines an estimated allocation of RM160 million over five years, either fully financed by the government or through collaborations with the private sector, to build these digital systems,” he said.
"I urge all of our partners in the tech ecosystem, investors, innovators and entrepreneurs to view the DxF as more than just a state plan but a shared opportunity to co-create Malaysia's digital future. Let us ensure that this transformation remains a human-centric one that uplifts communities, nurtures talent and bridges the digital divide," he said.
