KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has lauded Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail for his efficiency and dedication in resolving 49,000 citizenship applications and pending statelessness cases, further reinforcing the MADANI Government’s commitment to protecting children’s welfare.
Hannah said the achievement exemplifies the Home Minister’s people-focused approach, ensuring that the rights of every child are safeguarded, regardless of their background.
“To my knowledge, no Home Minister has shown the same level of compassion and efficiency as Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution.
“Under his leadership, the Federal Constitution was amended to allow Malaysian citizen mothers to pass on citizenship to children born abroad,” she said in a Facebook post today.
Responding to claims by some who cited her 2022 post to question her consistency, Hannah clarified that the current situation is markedly different under the administration of the MADANI Government.
She noted that the criticism came before the rollout of several new initiatives, including the establishment of the Child Development Department in 2023, under the leadership of the Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
“Distinguishing facts is a crucial skill in today’s digital world. Cybertroopers and some politicians cherry-pick posts without exercising critical thinking,” she said.
