KAJANG, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- The RHB LEKAS Highway Ride 2025 marked its 10th edition with 6,017 cyclists from 23 countries joining the night ride along the fully closed LEKAS E21 Highway.

Jointly organised by RHB Banking Group (RHB) and Lebuhraya Kajang Seremban Sdn Bhd (LEKAS), a subsidiary of IJM Corporation Berhad, the event was flagged off by Malaysian Highway Authority Director General (LLM) Datuk Sazali Harun at the Kajang Selatan Toll Plaza at 7.45 pm.

RHB's Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohamad said the event’s 10th edition marked a significant milestone for RHB.

“Over the years, it has grown into more than just a cycling race. It’s about connecting communities, inspiring healthier lifestyles, and creating experiences that endure.

“We are honoured to be part of this journey and we look forward to continuing our partnership with LEKAS Highway, bringing together the cycling community of all ages and backgrounds from every corner of the region,” he told reporters at the RHB LEKAS Highway Ride 2025 here, today.

Meanwhile, IJM Corporation Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Datuk Lee Chun Fai said the event has evolved into a meaningful tradition that unites riders from all walks of life.

“Celebrating the 10th edition of the RHB LEKAS Highway Ride is a proud moment for us at IJM. What began as an unique idea to open our highway for cycling has grown into a meaningful tradition that unites riders from all walks of life.

”It reflects our belief that highways can be more than just routes of travel, they can be spaces that connect people and inspire healthier, more active communities,” he said.

He added that the milestone reflects the strong partnership with RHB and the commitment of the LEKAS team in ensuring a safe and fully closed environment for participants.

The event also saw Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) returning as the official medical partner, with medical teams on standby and the RHB-IJN Mobile Health Clinic stationed along the route to provide health screenings, first aid and wellness support for participants.

Since 2022, the event has attracted more than 5,000 cyclists annually and now stands among the country’s largest mass-participation rides. It achieved two Malaysia Book of Records in 2024 for the “Longest Distance on a Closed Highway” (105 km) and “Largest Participation in a Highway Night Cycling Event.”

For today's ride, the route spanned a 44.3km dual carriageway between Kajang and Paroi, Negeri Sembilan, featuring various categories including the 105km Competitive Ride, 78km Ride, 17km Open Ride, and 17km and 12km Youth Rides.

The event transformed the highway into a car-free route for cyclists of all ages, celebrating a decade of growth since its debut.
