KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is optimistic that Malaysia’s creative industry will continue to grow and strengthen with the RM110 million allocation provided by the government under Budget 2026.
In a statement today, FINAS said the allocation complemented the agency’s ongoing efforts in implementing the Creative Content Fund (DKK) and the Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI), which have successfully attracted high-value investments and created thousands of job opportunities since their inception.
“The initiative also reinforces Malaysia’s reputation as a regional film production hub.
“In line with the implementation of the National Film Policy (DFN) 2025–2035, FINAS will continue to focus on developing a sustainable and competitive content ecosystem through talent development, world-class production facilities, and policy empowerment to support the growth of the national creative industry,” the statement said.
FINAS said it also remained committed to making the creative industry a dynamic, sustainable, inclusive and globally recognised sector that reflected Malaysia’s multicultural identity, drove economic growth and contributed to national unity.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling Budget 2026 last Friday, said the government had allocated RM110 million in incentive grants to encourage both local and international film productions.
The amount includes RM10 million specifically for the production of nationhood-themed content aimed at strengthening national identity through creative mediums.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the initiative was part of the MADANI government’s commitment to supporting the production of creative works that strengthened the orange economy ecosystem.
