KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Munsyi Muda Bahasa (MMB) of the Public Service have been urged to serve as a digital bridge in efforts to strengthen the national language through contemporary platforms.
Director-General of Public Service (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said MMB must also be bold enough to go beyond the ordinary, step out of their routine, and be prepared to adopt the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital tools, and new platforms.
He said the move was aimed at ensuring that MMB could perform their functions more effectively in line with the developments of the current digital era.
“If developed countries like Japan, (South) Korea, and Germany can embrace modernisation without compromising their mother tongue as a medium for every field of knowledge and technology, why can’t we?
“Hence, MMB must take the lead in utilising existing terminology, big data, and financial technology developed by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and in promoting and upholding them widely,” he said in his speech at the opening of the Munsyi Muda Bahasa Convention 2025 (KOMUDA ’25) here today.
The text of his speech was read out by deputy director-general of Public Service (Operations) Datuk Mohd Shaiful Ibrahim.
KOMUDA ’25 was organised by the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) in collaboration with DBP in conjunction with the National Language Decade 2025, aiming to establish a post-commission coordination structure for participants as MMB, or young language experts.
It also seeks to strengthen public sector language initiatives while serving as a coordination and knowledge-sharing platform for the appointed and commissioned MMB.
KOMUDA ’25 is also intended to serve as a stepping stone in reinforcing the identity of the MMB of the Public Service, who form the backbone of public sector human capital development based on the national language.
Earlier, a meeting was held to elect the Secretariat of the MMB of the Public Service for the 2025–2029 term. The following are the elected members of the Secretariat Committee:
