KOTA BHARU, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- More than 1,000 participants, comprising students, university staff and industry professionals from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), have been trained to enhance their mastery of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
UMK vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Arham Abdullah said the university is now moving in tandem with global trends by integrating AI as a key catalyst to ensure it remains relevant, dynamic, and competitive in a technology-driven world.
He said in support of AI technology implementation, UMK has launched four strategic initiatives to strengthen the university’s academic ecosystem and digital transformation.
“One of the initiatives is the Academic Analytics Dashboard TNCAA, a data-driven intelligent platform that comprehensively integrates UMK’s academic information, covering academic staff, administration and students.
“Other initiatives are the introduction of the Micro Credential 2.0 platform offering learning packages based on professional fields, the Academic Advisor Module, and Postgraduate Supervision Module to enhance supervisor competencies,” he said in a statement today.
Commenting further, Arham said through synergy between human intelligence and machine intelligence, UMK is exploring a new education horizon that is more inclusive, innovative and competitive.
He said UMK is not merely a passive user of technology but has taken a proactive step as a catalyst for change through the establishment of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.
“Through this institute, UMK is spearheading various research, development and training programmes in AI, machine learning and deep learning,” he said.
Arham also said with AI-based digital platforms, students can easily and quickly access online learning materials to seek solutions and guidance through intelligent chatbots, anytime, anywhere.
“This approach can enhance the effectiveness of self-directed learning and expand access to more inclusive education, including tailoring teaching strategies to make learning more effective, engaging and impactful.
“With mastery of this technology, UMK is determined to shape a new generation that is not only knowledgeable and competitive but also creative, humane, and technologically wise in navigating the era of the Fifth Industrial Revolution,” he added.
