BUDI95: KPDN RECEIVES NINE COMPLAINTS IN PENANG SINCE SEPT 30

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- The Penang enforcement division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has received nine complaints regarding BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) since the programme was implemented on Sept 30.

Its director, S. Jegan, said that of the total, only three complaints fell under the ministry's jurisdiction, all of which involved allegations of insufficient petrol quantities dispensed at the pump.

“For example, some individuals claimed that after refuelling their vehicles with RM30 worth of petrol, the amount received appeared to be less than expected.

“However, upon inspection, our officers found that the petrol dispensers at the reported stations were still within the calibration period, and measurement tests confirmed that the fuel quantities sold were accurate,” he told reporters at the Mega Exhibit Disposal Programme held at the Penang KPDN Bukit Minyak Storage Complex today.

He was responding to a question on whether the ministry had received complaints concerning the BUDI95 programme.

Commenting further, Jegan said most of the complaints stemmed from consumers' perceptions simply because they looked at the reading on the meter and did not examine the actual display at the petrol pump.

However, he said KPDN would continue to carry out monitoring and inspections to ensure that the implementation of the BUDI95 programme ran smoothly and protected consumer rights in the state.

A total of 16 million Malaysians are now enjoying the benefits of the Budi95  initiative which sets the price of RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per litre.
