KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- A total of 599 flood evacuees from 154 families are still sheltering at temporary relief centres in Perak and Kedah this morning, compared to 708 people last night.
In PERAK, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Secretariat said the same number of evacuees - 129 people from 35 families - from Kampung Padang Serai are still housed at the Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai relief centre in the Manjung district.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), meanwhile, has issued a thunderstorm warning for the districts of Kerian, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim later today.
In addition, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) said that Sungai Kinta was at the alert level of 247.92 metres (m), compared to the normal level of 243.50m.
In KEDAH, the number of flood evacuees dropped to 470 people from 119 families as of 8 am today, compared to 579 people from 156 families last night.
"Pendang has the highest number of evacuees, with 405 victims from 102 families at three relief centres, while in Kota Setar, 65 people from 17 families are still sheltering at one relief centre,” it added in a statement.
