TUMPAT, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade has stepped up security and tightened inspections along the Malaysia-Thailand border following the recent shooting incident in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, which claimed the life of a Malaysian man.
Its acting commander, ACP Ijid Landu Binju, said although the GOF has intensified border control measures, the force remains constantly on alert and does not act only in response to isolated incidents.
“Regardless of any incident that occurs on the Thai side, we on the Malaysian side are always vigilant.
“I have instructed all officers and personnel stationed along the border to remain on high alert and continue implementing preventive measures,” he told reporters at a press conference at the Tactical Company Headquarters (Martek) in Pengkalan Kubor here today.
He said roadblock inspections and patrols have been further tightened as a precautionary measure to maintain border security and ensure effective control.
Bernama earlier reported that a Malaysian man was shot dead last night at a house in Sungai Golok town, Narathiwat, in southern Thailand.
