KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Over 250 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from various sectors gained exposure to digitalisation best practices through the Tech Up, Scale Up!: Elevate Your SME Journey through AI, Digital Transformation and Smart Solutions seminar, held here today.

The programme, which featured 20 digital and technology solution providers, focused on the adoption of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), automation and smart manufacturing to help SMEs compete in an innovation and technology-driven economy.

Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (KUSKOP) secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the ministry, through its agencies such as SME Corp. Malaysia, will ensure that digitalisation and technology elements are incorporated into various programmes throughout the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) period.

“This initiative is in line with the aspirations of the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030 to create a holistic and comprehensive entrepreneurial ecosystem,” he said when officiating the event.

The seminar was organised by SME Corp. Malaysia, in a strategic collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and the Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia.

Meanwhile, SME Corp. Malaysia chief executive officer Rizal Nainy said the agency’s current priority is to strengthen the competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“Moving into the 13MP period, SME Corp. Malaysia aims to enhance the scaling capabilities of MSMEs to develop local business entities that are innovative, high value-added and competitive in both domestic and global markets,” he said.

The seminar held in Kuala Lumpur is the first in the 2025 series, with the next session scheduled to take place in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Nov 17.

The initiative is part of KUSKOP and SME Corp. Malaysia’s continuous efforts to support MSME development towards large-scale digitalisation and transformation, in line with Malaysia’s aspiration to become an AI Nation by 2030.
