SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,221 young entrepreneurs from 47 schools participating in the 2025 Tunas Niaga Programme (PROTUNe) have generated a combined revenue of over RM2.87 million within seven months, since March.

Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) group chief executive officer (Strategic Ventures), Md Kamarzan Md Rais, said that since its launch in 1998, PROTUNe has grown from a basic entrepreneurship training programme into a key platform for nurturing students into critical thinkers who are bold, resourceful, and future-ready.

“Now in its 27th year, the programme has benefitted 30,521 students, supported by 2,536 committed and highly skilled mentor teachers.

“As a result, 1,202 student companies have been established, demonstrating that the programme is truly comprehensive and has become a proud ‘signature’ initiative of PKNS’s Entrepreneur Development Division (BPU),” he said while officiating the 2025 PROTUNe Convention here today.

Md Kamarzan said that since 2009, companies under PROTUNe have achieved cumulative sales of RM34.4 million, showcasing the students’ dedication, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit.

He said the young entrepreneurs who also took part in the PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival gained hands-on business experience and achieved an impressive total revenue of RM721,830.77 over three days of sales (July 11 to 13, 2025).

“Through this experience, students gain broader and more meaningful lessons that go beyond business activities.

“They learn to be courageous, manage their time effectively, communicate confidently, understand market demands, identify opportunities and take calculated risks,” he said.

PROTUNe, held from March 3 to Sept 30, offered participants comprehensive entrepreneurship training, combining theoretical lessons with practical experience, including running businesses at their schools and participating in the PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival.

The young entrepreneurs produced and marketed a range of products and services, including food and beverages, handicrafts, souvenirs, clothing, as well as photography, laundry, catering, delivery, and recycled goods.

A total of 11 PROTUNe award categories were contested at the state level, including Best School, Best Company, Best Presentation, Best Mentor Teacher, and Best Service Award.

Other categories included Best Creative Product, Best Product Innovation, Best Financial Report, Best Chief Executive Officer, Hope Award, and E-PROTUNe Award.

At today’s event, the Best School Award was presented to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Rantau Panjang, with SMK Munsyi Abdullah named runner-up and Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Kajang securing third place.
