SEREMBAN, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- An alternative road to ease congestion on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) from Senawang to Kuala Lumpur, will be constructed next year, said Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

Without elaborating further, he said the Federal Government had approved the construction of the new road linking the PLUS Highway with the Nilai-Labu-Enstek (NLE) route, which is currently under construction over an 18-kilometre stretch and expected to be completed by July 2026.

“We have been informed that there will be a new PLUS road and toll plaza, with construction set to begin next year. The Federal Government will finance the project, but further management details are still being discussed.

“We hope this new route will help reduce traffic congestion from Senawang to Kuala Lumpur or towards the north, which is currently heavily congested. This alternative route is part of an immediate dispersal plan,” he told reporters after chairing the weekely State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting here today.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin, who is also Port Dickson Member of Parliament, said the state government is fully prepared to face the monsoon season, with various measures being taken to ensure sufficient supplies in the event of flooding.

He said the state government is also working with several local companies to ensure adequate food supplies in preparation for possible disasters.

“Several hotspot areas have been identified, and we are taking precautionary measures as floods occur depending on abnormal rainfall patterns and unpredictable weather conditions. We are ready to face any eventuality,” he said.

In a separate development, Aminuddin said the number of influenza cases in Negeri Sembilan has declined, with no cases reported in week 44 this year compared to 27 cases the previous week.
