SHANGHAI, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s presence at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) through the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia’s (ACCCIM) participation is something to be proud of, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In a statement today, the Deputy Prime Minister said the ACCCIM Pavilion is the sole consistent participation by Malaysia there for eight consecutive years and was even recognised as one of the 30 most influential pavilions in the seventh edition last year.
This year, he said, the ACCCIM Pavilion focuses on food and agricultural products, featuring 29 exhibition spaces, 83 participating companies, and 80 business delegates. This brings the number of participants from Malaysia to 169.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said that ACCCIM’s participation also opens new opportunities for Malaysian small and medium enterprises, particularly in the halal, agrifood, food technology, and premium rural product sectors, to penetrate high-impact export markets.
It also reflects the strength of trade and investment ties between Malaysia and China, he said.
“This effort is in line with the government’s aspiration to strengthen the rural export ecosystem through high-quality products, in accordance with the Rural Development Policy (DPLB) 2030 and the agenda to urbanise rural areas under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, which encourages rural entrepreneurs’ participation in the global value chain.
“I would like to congratulate ACCCIM, with the support of the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry and the Malaysian Embassy in Beijing, for their dedicated efforts in promoting Malaysian products and brands in the Chinese market,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid also officiated the launch of the Port Klang Free Zone’s (PKFZ) China branch office at the PKFZ Pavilion in conjunction with CIIE 2025.
The Deputy Prime Minister said this initiative represents Malaysia’s strategic move to strengthen trade relations, investments, and logistics between the two countries, while also enhancing Port Klang’s position as a major gateway and competitive regional maritime hub on the global stage.
“This move also demonstrates PKFZ’s continuous commitment to expanding cross-border logistics and port cooperation, facilitating Malaysia–China bilateral trade flows, and advancing digital transformation as well as sustainability in the regional logistics sector.
“I am confident that the efforts by ACCCIM and PKFZ will not only strengthen Malaysia’s brand presence globally, but also attract high-value investments, expand regional logistics chain and hub, and serve as a catalyst for rural economic development, in line with the MADANI Government’s vision and DPLB 2030,” he said.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid officiated the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS)@Shanghai at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC).
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Ahmad Zahid said he also visited the MIHAS@Shanghai exhibition booths that showcased various local halal products, including those produced by Bumiputera entrepreneurs.
“I am very proud to see Malaysian brands standing tall on the world stage, carrying the good name of our country through trusted and highly competitive halal products.
“I also took the time to interact with representatives from ministries, agencies, state governments, and Bumiputera companies participating in MIHAS this time. Each product and innovation exhibited showcases Malaysia’s great potential to continue leading the global halal industry,” he said.
He also expressed hope that all entrepreneurs participating in MIHAS@Shanghai 2025 will seize this valuable opportunity to strengthen business networking and open new market avenues in the region.
He added that through continuous efforts, this will further solidify Malaysia’s position as the world’s leading halal industry hub and ensure that “Halal Malaysia” remains trusted and respected globally.
