UUM GRADUATES RECORD 96.6 PCT MARKETABILITY RATE - VICE-CHANCELLOR

SINTOK, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has achieved a record-high graduate marketability rate of 96.6 per cent last year, up from 95 per cent the previous year.

UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said the achievement reflects the university’s continued success in producing competitive graduates in demand in today’s challenging job market.

He said that on the international stage, UUM continues to strengthen its reputation. In the QS World University Rankings 2026, UUM climbed to the 491st position, marking an impressive 63-place improvement from the previous year.

“Just five days ago, the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026 once again highlighted UUM’s growing global standing when the university advanced to the 65th position in Asia, up 14 places compared to last year,” he said during his speech at the 38th UUM Convocation Ceremony held here today.

The Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, who is also the UUM’s Tuanku Chancellor, graced the opening ceremony of the convocation.

Mohd Foad said that the number of UUM alumni has now reached nearly 180,000, including 6,832  graduates from this convocation.

He also noted that 93 per cent of this year’s graduates had completed the Graduate Tracer Study System (SKPG) before collecting their academic robes on Nov 5.

According to him, data from the system shows that 918 graduates, or 15 per cent, are earning more than RM4,000 per month.

He added that 13 graduates who took the stage during this convocation ceremony are already earning over RM10,000 per month.

At the convocation ceremony, Sultan Sallehuddin conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Islamic Business Management on Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, 64, a prominent corporate figure and chairman of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University.
