KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- Police have completed their investigation into rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, in connection with the death of a Taiwanese female influencer last month.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the investigation papers have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
“The investigation papers have been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor and are currently awaiting further instructions,” he said in a statement today.
Namewee remains in remand after police obtained an order to extend it until tomorrow.
The police had on Nov 5 obtained a six-day remand order against him and last Monday (Nov 10) obtained a three-day extension of the remand.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Hsieh Yun Hsin, was found dead in a bathtub in the bathroom of a hotel along Jalan Conlay here on Oct 22. Her body was later sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The case, which was initially classified as a sudden death (SDR), has since been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Namewee is believed to have been the last person seen with the victim.
