FORMER BERNAMA CHIEF NEWS EDITOR SIVASELVAM DIES

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Former Chief News Editor of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), S. Sivaselvam, died at about 3 am today.

His widow, Lalitha S. Nadarajah, said Sivaselvam, 77, died at their home in Cheras early this morning after a short illness.

Lalitha, who was also a former Bernama staff member, said Sivaselvam’s remains would be cremated at the Kampung Tunku Crematorium in Petaling Jaya later today.

Sivaselvam began his career with Bernama on April 1, 1968, as a cadet reporter and retired on Nov 9, 1989, as Special Desk Editor.

During his tenure, Sivaselvam held several key positions, including Chief News Editor, Ipoh Bureau Chief, Deputy News Editor of the General News Service, and Chief Sub-editor (English) of the Foreign News Service.

In 2007, he was reappointed on a contract basis as Chief Sub-Editor (English) at the Economic News Service, before serving as Consulting Editor in 2013 and later as Senior Training Officer from 2014 to 2016.
