KOTA KINABALU, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The nomination process for the 17th Sabah State Election  today proceeded smoothly with no police reports received throughout the period, said Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.

He expressed gratitude and congratulations to all candidates and their supporters for demonstrating strong commitment to ensuring that the nomination process took place without any incidents.

“I urge all parties to uphold this professional spirit and work together to make history by ensuring that this election proceeds without incidents and without any police reports until the polling process concludes on Nov 29,” he said.

He said this at a press conference on the Nomination Day proceedings for the state polls at the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters here today.

The Election Commission has set polling day for the Sabah state election on Nov 29, while early voting is on Nov 25.

Jauteh said enforcement operations for the process began as early as 5 am, involving 4,771 police officers and personnel stationed at all 25 nomination centres across the state.

“Apart from the nomination centres, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also deployed officers and personnel at several public locations to ensure smooth traffic flow as usual.”

He also recorded his appreciation to all security personnel, particularly policemen, for demonstrating high professionalism and successfully maintaining order to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

Jauteh further reminded campaign organisers to obtain permits from the police beforehand, especially for events held in densely populated public areas.
