KOTA KINABALU, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The 17th Sabah State Election campaign entered its third day today, with political parties and contesting candidates stepping up efforts to engage voters through various programmes and activities.

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Karanaan seat, Md Nadzmin Kamin, has made the “three-pronged” issues of damaged roads, unreliable water supply, and electricity disruptions a priority if entrusted by the voters.

According to him, these issues continue to strangle the local economy, including the tourism, agriculture, and livestock sectors.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate from DAP for the Tanjung Aru seat, Datuk Chang Foong Hin, continued his tour of Pulau Gaya, which is among his main focus areas in efforts to bring more structured and inclusive development to the local community.

The Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities is committed to ensuring Pulau Gaya is not left behind in Sabah’s development, including introducing welfare initiatives and phased development programmes for the well-being of residents.

Another PH candidate from DAP, Philip Yap Wui Lip, has made education the cornerstone of his campaign in the Sri Tanjong constituency.

While attending an Education Charity Concert at Sabah Chinese High School, he expressed support for school development and interacted with the board of management, teachers, and the organising committee.

He said: “The efforts of educators and the commitment of the organising committee are a source of pride for Tawau. They are the driving force ensuring education continues to advance.”

He also highlighted that under the MADANI Unity Government, Chinese education has received various concrete support in recent years.

In this state election, GRS is contesting 55 out of 73 state seats, with 33 per cent of its candidates being new faces, while PH is contesting 22 seats.
