NIBONG TEBAL, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MOE) continues to prioritise upgrading under-resourced schools in Sabah, which receive some of the highest allocations for repairs and new construction.
Minister Fadhlina Sidek said infrastructure development in the state remains a top priority to ensure educational facilities, particularly in remote and rural areas, meet high standards.
“In terms of infrastructure, we are focusing on Sabah, addressing educational needs and rural hostels to ensure children have access to schools,” she told reporters after the Asset Handover Ceremony for the MADANI Adopted School Programme under the Public Service Commission (SPA) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Bakap today.
“Prioritising under-resourced schools and providing new facilities is part of our continuous effort to ensure every child receives proper access to education,” she added.
Fadhlina, who is also the Nibong Tebal Member of Parliament, was responding to media reports on inadequate school infrastructure in Sabah.
During a visit last week to assess progress at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Trus Madi, Tulid, she said MOE is implementing several special programmes and projects, including a new school at Kampung Serudung Laut, to meet urgent educational needs in previously underserved areas.
