AMIRUDIN REITERATES HE WILL REMAIN SELANGOR MB UNTIL END OF TERM

SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has reiterated that he will remain at the helm of the state’s leadership until the end of his term.

He said that there will be no state executive lineup reshuffle during that period.

"One year left (to finish this term), and if we want to reshuffle the state executive lineup, we will need more time. So far, there is no idea or any hint of that,” he told reporters after officiating at the Selangor Economic Action Plan 2025-2035 at the foyer of Bangunan Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri (SUK) Selangor here today.

Although PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar had been mentioned as a candidate for the Menteri Besar's post, Amirudin said it is just a proposal and the matter still needs to be discussed, in addition to getting the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

"We are now throwing that as an option. If the option is accepted, Alhamdullillah. Otherwise, we have to look at other alternatives.

"In addition, all our executive councillors are eligible (to become the Menteri Besar), including the likes of Najwan (Mohd Najwan Halimi), Fahmi (Dr Mohamad Fahmi Ngah), Borhan (Datuk Borhan Aman Shah) and Izham (Datuk Izham Hashim)...,” he said 

Amirudin said that planning for changes to important positions is made in an orderly manner and not just out of the blue.

However, Amirudin said the Selangor government must first win the state election, which is the main condition before any talks about positions to govern in the next term can be held.

Amirudin previously admitted to proposing that Nurul Izzah be appointed to replace him as the Selangor Menteri Besar.

He had told the “Keluar Sekejap” podcast, hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin dan Shahril Sufian Hamdan, recently that the proposal had been relayed to Nurul Izzah, and that it was up to her to accept it or not.
